I bought a small ton of this beautiful silver sparkly thin-gauged yarn at Michael's to make the Christmas place mats...turns out I only needed one skein, so I had a lot left over! I decided to make something else with it, and after combing through my Stitch And Bitch books, I found this shawl pattern that was perfect for this type of yarn. It only took a day or two to make. The pattern is very repetitive (rows upon rows of the same shell), easy to memorize, and easy to make on auto-pilot. The shawl is a perfect size for my little frame, and when on my shoulders the tip hangs just past my hips. This shawl may be a little "grandma" looking, and is more an accessory than for warmth...but I really like it! Plus, I had enough yarn to make two!!! Anyone want one?!?
