I ordered a summer package from my Younique selling friend in order to test out a face powder. The package included the powder, a mascara, a brow pencil, and my choice of one of their cream shadows. A year ago I got a purple-taupe shimmer cream shadow from her, so I thought I would give the mattes a try and chose a shade that would work with the shimmer shade. This shade is a dusty rose shade (that leans lilac). The formula is not as creamy as the shimmer shade...and I would actually describe it as “chalky” for a cream product. This maybe the fault of the shade, but it might be either. This shade is so light and pink that on my eyes it looks pale. I was hoping this would be a good crease shade, but it just too pale. It is not as smooth and easy to apply as the shimmer shade is (which I can just dot onto my kids with my finger). Fingers still work the best for application, but I find myself rubbing my eyelids to get it on and this is not the most ideal (or delicate) way to get product on the eyes!
In the end, I did find that this is a great base shade (and pseudo primer)!!! I used it in the crease and on the lids, let it set a little, then applied my pink and purple shadows on top...and they looked great!!! They stayed in place all day and I haven’t noticed any creasing or fall out at all. I am so happy that I found a way to use this expensive pot of shadow and not feel like I just wasted my $$!!! If there is ever a next time, I will definitely choose another Younique shimmer shadow instead of these mattes!
First eye picture shows just the shade on the lid. Last two eye pictures shows it as a base under a pink eye look.
