Took these spare 20mm straps out to try them on the incoming Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical 38 watch. Then watch arrived and it had to be returned immediately as defective (could not be wound). I see now that many ppl had similar problems which seem to originate from modified mainspring in this particular movement. I otherwise love and own Hamilton and this model looks just right for what I had in mind, but now I am disappointed. Why did they replace awesome ETA 2801 with H-50 at all? Who needs a more proprietary movement with increased power reserve on a Field watch? These sorts of “improvements” can only be explained with attempt to further push buyer to deal with Hamilton exclusively when maintaining their watches. But enough with the grudge. After returning this watch, I decided to go with a microbrand to fulfill this Field watch spot in my collection. This one should go well with the same strap set. Care to guess which watch did I get?
